The Provincial Government of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) has conducted a coordination meeting in anticipation of the international Pocari Sweat Run 2025, scheduled to take place in Kuta Mandalika from September 13 to 15, 2025. The meeting, held at the VIP Deluxe Building of the Mandalika Circuit on Tuesday, September 9, was attended by representatives from the Central Lombok Regency Government, local community leaders, and officials from Pocari Sweat.

NTB Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal expressed optimism that this year’s event would set a positive precedent for future events. “This year marks the beginning of the Pocari Run in Lombok, and we are committed to ensuring its success. God willing, this event will become an annual fixture on the international calendar,” he stated.

The governor emphasized that the Pocari Sweat Run is not merely a sports event but also a means to demonstrate to the world that NTB is a safe and conducive location. “A successful Pocari Run will send a strong message that the area is secure, similar to the MotoGP. More activities like this will yield significant economic benefits for the local community,” he added.

During the meeting, Governor Iqbal also praised the revival of the Betabeq tradition, which involves seeking permission from the local community before the event. “I am delighted to see the Betabeq tradition being revived. Let’s work together to bring this tradition to life, involving community leaders in the process,” he said.

He expressed hope that this tradition would be applied to other major events, including the MotoGP. Furthermore, he urged businesses, especially those in the hospitality and transportation sectors, to prepare themselves and adopt the mindset that NTB is accustomed to hosting large-scale events that positively impact the regional economy.
